National Union Knesset Member Yitzchak Levy has expressed fears that a proposed plan by the IDF to combine male and female soldiers in all units will result in an increase in sexual offenses. Manpower officer Elazar Stern unveiled the plan as part of his continuing campaign to force an end to units composed of solely religious soldiers.
"I call on the IDF Chief of Staff to reject the [plan] and to promise to allow religious soldiers to serve according to their observance," MK Levy said Monday morning. "Carrying out the recommendations will bring an end to an army of all the people and will bring about an increase in sexual offenses in the IDF."
He called Stern's recommendations "a war on religious soldiers."
