At least three Israelis were seriously injured when a Thai airliner crashed on landing at the resort island of Phuket on Sunday, according to Israeli Army Radio. No names have been released as yet.

Thai officials said some 90 percent of the 123 passengers and an unknown number of crew members died in the crash. The plane, which took off from Bangkok, tried to land in a heavy rainstorm.

The island is a popular destination for Israeli tourists, including many young people who travel to the area after completing their army service.
