Meteorologist Boaz Dayan has issued his annual predictions for winter weather based on statistics from previous years, and this year's prognosis is not good for Israel's water resources. However, a long-term forecast based on an American model of weather systems is more optimistic and forecasts wetter than usual weather.
Dayan's forecast is for a colder but drier than usual winter, following a warm October and November. Most of the winter's precipitation will fall in February, and snow will fall in the middle of January, based on past weather data.
The near-term forecast is continued pleasant weather through the Rosh HaShanah holiday and at least until the middle of next week.
