An IDF survey of 1000 young men and women preparing to enlist showed that young Israelis are more motivated to serve than they have been in years. 80% of the teens expressed a willingness to serve, a five percent increase compared to teens surveyed in 2001. The young men and women also expressed a high level of willingness to become officers during their service.
However, a different segment of the survey suggested that the IDF has some cause for concern. Only 85% of the respondents said that the army is well trained and professional, as compared to 95% of those questioned in a similar survey one year earlier.
