IDF troops attacked an area in Gaza identified by spokesmen as a Kassam rocket launching site early Tuesday morning in the wake of a Kassam attack that scored a direct hit on the nearby Zikim IDF army base. More than 55 soldiers suffered shock in the attack. Ten soldiers were taken to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon with shrapnel wounds. Two of those were later airlifted to Tel HaShomer Hospital in Tel Aviv with serious and critical injuries.
Palestinian Authority sources said that an Arab woman and her daughter were injured in the strike, but the claim was not confirmed by the IDF.
