Soldiers Suspended for Refusal to Expel Families

General Gadi Shamni, head of the IDF’s Central Command, said Sunday that the IDF would suspend seven soldiers from service for refusing to expel families from their homes.  The soldiers, who serve in the Kfir brigade, told their commanders they would not take part in the expulsion, which took place in the center of Jewish Hevron approximately one month ago.

Shamni told reporters that the soldiers were suspended because their behavior endangered the army.  Israel is a democratic country, he said, and the IDF “is obligated to perform every task assigned to it.”
