The head of the Islamic Movement's northern branch, Sheikh Ra'ed Salah, is unwelcome in the kingdom of Jordan, he told reporters Sunday, at least by government authorities.
Salah had been invited by a Jordanian committee of engineers, he said, but "after my passport was checked, I was photographed and my fingerprints taken, they told me I could not enter Jordan." He added he received no explanation for the refusal.
The Islamic leader, who has been charged for incitement to violence, said he had tried to enter Jordan through the Sheikh Hussein border crossing in northern Israel.
