The State Attorney’s office issued a statement on Thursday saying the state would not interfere with the agreement reached between Attorney General Menachem Mazuz and former president Moshe Katzav. There is no reason to interfere in the indictment, the statement said. One woman, known to the public as “Aleph,” had complained that her allegations against Katzav were not included in the final indictment.
According to the agreement, Katzav was indicted for sexual harassment and tampering with a witness. Katzav admitted to the charges, stepped down from his position, and was to receive a suspended jail sentence. Katzav also agreed to pay damages to two women whose allegations were included in the final indictment.
