Edward Abingdon, a former United States consul-general in Jerusalem, has testified in behalf of the Holy Land Foundation, accused by the United States of financing terrorism. He told the court in Dallas, Texas that Israeli intelligence on Arab groups aided by the supposed Muslim charity was unreliable.
His testimony countered prosecution arguments that the Holy Land fund knowingly assisted terrorists. Abingdon said that reports he received from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) did not implicate the Holy Land Foundation.
