Following three months of fighting against a Palestinian Islamist group in the north Lebanese neighborhood of Nahr el-Bared, the Lebanese Army declared victory Sunday.
"The battle is over. The Lebanese Army has captured Fatah al-Islam's last positions in the neighborhood," a Lebanese security source said.
31 armed Islamist jihadists and two Lebanese soldiers were killed in today's fighting, said the source. "A few may have escaped," he said, "but we will hunt them down too."
