More details emerged over the weekend on the arrest of Heftsiba CEO Boaz Yonah, who was nabbed in Milan late Thursday in a joint operation with Israeli and Italian police. Dror Asaf, who worked with Italian police on the arrest, said in an interview Saturday night that Yonah was “shocked” that he could be arrested by Israeli police in such a faraway place. He did not try to deny his identity or resist arrest, Asaf said. Yonah was “not an expert in keeping himself hidden as other criminals are,” so that it was not difficult to track him down. “The only other explanation is that he did not believe anyone would interrupt him as he pursued his escape plan, he said.
He added that Tamar Yonah could be charged with obstruction of justice for her attempts to hide her husband's whereabouts.Police on Friday said that the case broke when they were able to trace phone calls made by Tamar Yonah to Israeli radio stations last week, in which she denied knowing her husband's whereabouts.
