Las Vegas Sacks Kippa Cop

A 10-year veteran detective of the Las Vegas, Nevada police force is suing after begin fired for wearing a skullcap [kippa] and growing a beard. The policeman, Steve Riback, said he had a beard for three years as an undercover policeman and no one questioned it until he was transferred to a unit which reviews police policies.

He agreed to shave the beard, but the police department held its ground against his wearing the kippa after he complained for not being allowed to grow a short beard. "They are just digging their heels into the ground whether they are right or wrong, Riback said.
