Kinneret 20 Inches Below Last Year's Level

(IsraelNN.com) The level of the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) has fallen to 212.05 meters below sea level, 47 centimeters (almost 20 inches) less than a year ago today. The lake is 3.25 meters below the level at which dams have to be opened in order to prevent flooding to the beachside city of Tiberias.

Average annual rainfall raises the lake slightly less than two meters, and the level of the Kinneret is expected to drop at least another half a meter before the rainy season begins.
