The price of benzene gasoline at the pump will drop by four percent in September, but a government hike in taxes on diesel has erased a 7.6 percent reduction in price of the fuel.

Last month, diesel prices also rose while the cost of benzene fuel dropped two percent. The declines reflect the price of crude oil on the world market and will help pull down the consumer price index for August and September.
