Alternative Awards Ceremony Postponed (IsraelNN.com) The Committee to Save the Nation and the Land announced Thursday that an alternative awards ceremony scheduled to take place on Sunday in Beit Horon would be postponed. Activists and rabbis planned to give awards to IDF soldiers who refused to expel Jewish families from their homes in Hevron. Several residents of Beit Horon protested the event. The alternative ceremony was to be held on the same day as an IDF ceremony honoring soldiers who served in the Second Lebanon War. Holding the ceremony on the same day would dishonor the memory of soldiers who gave their lives in the war, the residents said. Beit Horon Rabbi Micha Peled and Rabbi David Wolpe explained that they had no intention of insulting the soldiers “the brave ones who fought valiantly and gave up their lives in the war in Lebanon.” The ceremony would be pushed off by a few days, they said. ![]() Sign up for new Daily Israel Headlines: One page – All the news © A7 Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
