Hamoudi (Don) Salum has passed away from his wounds, after fighting for his life for more than a year following a Hizbullah Katyusha attack during the Second Lebanon War. He is the 156th victim to die as a result of the war with the Hizbullah terrorist organization.
Salum was hit by shrapnel across his body during the attack on his village August 6, 2006, but ignored his own wounds as he raced into the family home to rescue his mother and sister.
He was rushed to Rambam Hospital in Haifa with severe burns over 85 percent of his body, numerous shrapnel wounds and a leg that was blown off during the explosion of a gas tank as he evacuated his family. Three people were killed and dozens wounded in the attack on Wadi Nisnas,
