American Middle East military envoy General Keith Dayton has called for the Palestinian Authority (PA) to deploy five platoons throughout Judea and Samaria. General Dayton trained and developed the army, which suffered humiliating losses during the Hamas military takeover of Gaza three months ago.

The plan would include more arms being transferred to the PA and requires Israeli approval. Congress has approved $80 million for General Dayton's use to prop up the PA army.
