(IsraelNN.com) The National Museum has launched an Internet site allowing Holocaust survivors to identify more than 1,000 pieces of art that have been recovered after being stolen by the Nazis. The pictures include Judaic items and paintings, several of them worth millions of dollars.

The museum took the move after being charged by a governmental group that it has not made enough efforts to return the works to their rightful owners. "We are so happy that the museum has adopted the principle of publishing its holdings," said Avraham Roet, a Dutch-born Holocaust survivor.

The Nazis plundered between 250,000 and 600,000 pieces of art that are being held by various governments, museums and private collectors, the Associated Press reported.
