(IsraelNN.com) United Nations General Secretary Kofi Annan told Defense Minister Amir Peretz during a meeting that Israel is responsible for most violations of the UN-brokered cease-fire in southern Lebanon. He also called for Israel to lift its sea and air blockade of Lebanon, which Israel put in place at the start of the campaign against Hizbullah last month.
--Israel Police’s Yomam commando unit on Tuesday targeted two Hizbullah agents operating in Samaria. The two were killed in the Balata area of the Shechem district and were directly responsible for the March 30, 2006 attack near Kedumim that claimed the lives of Rafi Halevy, 60, his wife Helena, 59, Re’ut Feldman, 20, and Shaked Lasker, 16.
--Prime Minister of Lebanon, Fouad Siniora, declared today that his country would be the last to sign a peace treaty with Israel. Siniora rejected any direct contacts with Israel whatsoever.
--Forty-nine youths from the community of Tal Menashe, in Samaria, visited the remains of the forcibly evacuated Jewish town of Sa-Nur yesterday. The visit was authorized and secured by the IDF. Sa-Nur, in northern Samaria, was evacuated and demolished under the August 2005 Disengagement Plan.
--American Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said "the thing that keeps me up at night" is media manipulation by Arab terrorists. "What bothers me the most is how clever the enemy is. The enemy lies constantly, almost totally without impunity," he added in a speech at a convention of war veterans.
