Germany will give Syria financial aid totaling $47 million.
This is the first time Germany has given Syria aid since the February 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
A United Nations report sponsored by the US and UK found converging evidence of Syrian and Lebanese involvement in the assassination. The UN Security Council voted unanimously to demand full Syrian cooperation with UN investigators in the ongoing investigation.
