Former IDF Chief of Staff Moshe Ya'alon has warned that foreign envoys leading Israel towards negotiations suffer from misconceptions, beginning with the notion that solving the Palestinian Authority (PA)-Israeli conflict is a condition for Middle East stability. He also pointed out in an article in the Los Angeles Times that Israel's giving up land restored to Israel in the Six-Day War in 1967 will not solve the problems that existed before the war.
Ya'alon maintained that neither former PA Chairman Yasser Arafat nor his successor Mahmoud Abbas has created a reliable governmental structure.
