In spite of all the scary demographic figures being bandied about in the media, Israel’s Jewish demographic is actually improving. New figures show that Jewish births have significantly risen as a percentage of overall births in the Jewish state. In 1995 Jewish births accounted for only 59% of overall births. In contrast, in 2007, Jewish births account for over 75% of total births.

Part of this increase is due to a declining Arab birthrate. Between 1999 and 2007, for example, registration for grade one students in Gaza fell by some 8%.
