The family of Cpl. Gilad Shalit, the young soldier who was abducted by Gaza terrorists in June of 2006, is marking his second birthday in captivity. Shalit will be 21 on Tuesday.
His father, Noam, intends to publish a birthday greeting to his son in the Arabic media, in the hope that it will reach him. Billboards will also go up throughout Israel, and Israeli Scouts will stand in train stations with balloons and placards.
Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said in a CNN interview Saturday that Cpl. Shalit is "alive and well."
