The Knesset will be interrupting its recess to hold a special session for debating Education Minister Yuli Tamir's controversial decisions on Tuesday, September 4th 2007. The debate was scheduled by Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik after more than 25 MKs requested it.
The subject of the debate will be "Moves by the Education Minister to Hurt Jewish-Zionist Education." It will center on statements attributed to Tamir regarding putting an end to the employment of religious National Service girls as teachers, and the insertion of the anti-Zionist "narrative" into schoolbooks for the Arab sector.
In addition, a debate will be held on the topic of "The Prime Minister's Conducting of Permanent Status Talks without a Mandate," following requests by the Likud, NU/NRP and Yisrael Beiteinu.
