The British Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee has submitted a report recommending that the British government change its policy of isolating Hamas. Avoiding contact with Hamas is unproductive, the report said.
Committee members said the British government should consider beginning negotiations with Hamas leaders in order to recreate the Hamas-Fatah unity leadership of the Palestinian Authority that existed until the Hamas takeover of Gaza earlier in the summer. The committee recommended that the government speak with “moderate” members of the terrorist group, which strives for the destruction of Israel and the establishment of an Islamic caliphate.
