The Budget for 2008 was approved Sunday evening by the government in a 21 to 5 vote. The budget is the largest in Israel's history and totals more than NIS 300 billion.

Minister of Transport Shaul Mofaz and the four ministers from Shas, the sephardic hareidi-religious party, opposed the budget.

The budget now requires Knesset approval and may have to pass through the High Court as well.
