The Israel Bar Association's Constitutional Law Committee sided with Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch Wednesday, in the dispute between Beinisch and Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann.

The committee published a statement which said "the Prime Minister and Justice Minister are taking a course of action that weakens the status of the Supreme Court."

Yuri Gay-Ron, the recently elected Chairman of the Bar Association, is considered to be a loyal ally of Beinisch's. Beinisch and Friedmann are locked in a bitter struggle over a series of reform measures which the Minister has set in motion, and which the Supreme Court President sees as a deliberate attempt to undermine her standing.
