The Hamas-Fatah struggle for control of the Palestinian Authority spilled over into the hospital sector on Wednesday when medical workers walked out to protest the firing of two Fatah-affiliated managers.
Dr. Hazzaa Abed was appointed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah faction to run Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, but was later thrown out by a new hospital chief hired by Hamas.
Dozens of PA Arab doctors and nurses temporarily walked off the job to protest the Hamas-run Health Ministry’s dismissal of the two Fatah-linked hospital administrators. They returned within hours.
