In the near future, new immigrants to Israel (olim) will be able to receive their identity cards upon their arrival at Ben Gurion airport.
Immigrant Absorption Minister Ya'acov Edri said "We will do this for all the immigrants. There will be an Interior Ministry official at the airport who will give them the card on the spot. It's the right thing to do to prevent the immigrants from facing unnecessary hassles."
Presently, new immigrants must navigate the long lines and complex bureaucracy of Israel’s interior ministry before receiving their identity card, which is needed to begin receiving any services and benefits from the state.
