Britain Threatens Criminal Charges Against IDF Troops

A British coroner has accused IDF troops of "willful killing" of a 34-year-old photojournalist who was covering military events in southern Gaza in May 2003.

The coroner, Dr. Scott Reid, appealed to British attorney general Lord Peter Goldsmith, to consider instituting criminal proceedings against the IDF soldiers in the death of British TV cameraman James Miller, who died in Rafiah during the fighting between Israeli soldiers and Gaza terrorists.

Goldsmith said he wrote to Israeli Attorney General Menachem Mazuz, requesting he institute a criminal investigation against the troops within the Jewish State, giving him a six-week ultimatum to comply. The deadline for Mazuz's response to Goldsmith is Tuesday. Justice Ministry officials have not issued a response to the letter.
