The state may renew the development of an anti-missile system that uses lasers to detonate missiles in mid-air.
If funding is renewed, the system could be operational in the next year and a half, according to a Haaretz report.
The project was initially launched in 1996, specifically in response to Hizbullah’s arming itself with Katyusha missiles. Called Skyguard, the project was put aside shortly before the Second Lebanon War, despite nearly 100 percent success-rates in its US tests.
