The American National Council of Young Israel has stated its opposition to the announcement by the Jewish National Fund (JNF) that it can sell land to non-Jews. A Knesset bill restricting JNF sales to Jews has passed first reading.
Young Israel noted that Jews around the world have contributed to the JNF for decades in order to plant trees and purchase land for Jews. "Israel is a democracy [and] a bastion of freedom," Young Israel noted, "but a democracy doesn't have to prove itself by forfeiting its right to its national purpose.
"The National Council of Young Israel stands with all who say no to those who desire to destroy our religious, national and historic rights to our land."
