Prime Minister Ehud Olmert praised Israel’s Supreme Court Tuesday.
"Part of my role as prime minister is to protect [the Supreme Court] – its independence and its ability to continue to be a fortress of democracy,” Olmert said at a graduation ceremony of Israel’s National Security Institute. “I am proud of our High Court and its president.”
The conciliatory words come after Olmert and Chief Justice Dorit Beinish have exchanged barbs publicly.
