Gov't: IDF Exemption to Torah Students with Families

(IsraelNN.com) The Finance Ministry has suggested an army exemption for yeshiva students who are married and have at least two children. The objective of the proposed exemption is to encourage them to enter the workforce.
Current regulations exempt yeshiva students from serving in the IDF on the basis of Torah study being considered a profession, a stipulation that encourages many students to remain out of the workforce.
