El Al airlines has announced that it will name a Boeing 777 airplane “Kiryat Shemona” in honor of the northern town with the same name. El Al Chairman Israel (Izzy) Borovitz, CEO Chaim Romano, and Kiryat Shemona Mayor Chaim Barbibay will participate in a ceremony on Monday during which the plane will receive its new name.
El Al has named other planes after Israeli cities, particularly those suffering from frequent attacks. Another Boeing 777 is named after Sderot.
