The Likud's Elections Committee convened Sunday to discuss petitions for the disqualification of Moshe Feiglin as a candidate for the party's leadership. Feiglin's supporters say Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu and the party's legal advisor, Avi Halevi, are behind the petitions.
"Netanyahu, who said in the past that his rivals hound him unfairly, is himself using violent and dictatorial methods for taking out political rivals," said Feiglin supporters.
Feiglin's detractors in the Likud say that a good showing by him in the primaries is bound to create an image problem for the Likud. Feiglin, they say, is too religious and right-of-center for the Likud.
