Prime Minister Ehud Olmert reassured cabinet ministers at the weekly Sunday meeting that the United States is dedicated to ensuring that Israel retains military supremacy in the Middle East.
“We understand the United States’ need to assist the moderate Arab states, which are standing in one front with the United States and us in the struggle against Iran,” said Olmert.
According to a report published in the New York Times on Friday, the U.S. plans to provide a $20 billion aid package, including advanced satellite-guided bombs, advanced naval ships and upgrades to military aircraft, to Saudi Arabia.
