Miracles Bolt Lightning Twice, Blue Sox Win Again

In Israel's professional baseball league, Eladio Rodriguez continued his home-run binge Wednesday and powered the Modi'in Miracles to a 4-3 and 13-5 doubleheader victory over the Tel Aviv Lightning. He hit four homers, including a grand-slam, raising his batting average to an incredible .559.

The Miracles remain in second place as the Beit Shemesh Blue Sox continued to post victories, this time downing the Petach Tikva Pioneers 7-4 in a game that was highlighted by seven errors. At Sportek, Ra'anana Express coasted to a 9-2 victory over the toothless Netanya Tigers, who suffered their fourth straight loss. Express pitcher Joshua Zumbrun of California allowed two runs and struck out six.
The same six teams will play each other again on Thursday, with the Blue Sox hosting the Pioneers at Gezer Field at 5 p.m., the Lightning hosting the Miracles at the same hour at Sportek, and the Express hosting the Tigers at Yarkon Field at 7 p.m.
