Citizens planning to travel by train or rail or needing official documents may find themselves out of luck next Wednesday if the Histadrut national labor union goes through with plans for a general strike, Histadrut leader Ofir Eini said preparations are being made to shut down the nation in the wake of an impasse in talks with the Finance Ministry.

Eini and Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On are scheduled to meet on Tuesday in a last-ditch effort to avert a strike, which also would affect the post office and government offices.
