Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will bypass the American Roadmap plan and speak with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert only about final borders of a proposed new Arab state, according to the PA delegation that accompanied at Monday's meeting with the Prime Minister.
Officials said that matters such as the separation barriers and prisoners and terrorists will be handled by PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, who recently was appointed by Abbas and has the backing of the Bush administration.
Prime Minister Olmert avoided the final status in Monday's talks, but the PA delegation's statements outline a new agenda for the next meeting, which is to take place in Jericho in two weeks.
