Prime Minister Ehud Olmert visited Jordan last week in an unannounced trip to meet with King Abdullah II. The government has maintained a "no comment" stance on the back and forth helicopter trip. The visit preceded by several days a planned meeting with Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in Jerusalem on Monday. It also followed the freeing of four Jordanian terrorists at the request of the king.

Channel Two television reported that Prime Minister Olmert wanted to discuss with Jordan the possibility of rebuilding a bridge across the Jordan River and opening it as a crossing closer to Shechem than the crossing near Jericho.
