Foreign airlines have warned Israel that continued interference on pilot's radio frequencies may force them to cancel flights in Israel. Recent disruptions in contact between air traffic controllers and pilots have forced frequent delays in takeoff and landings, causing inconvenience to passengers and huge losses to airlines.

"It is inconceivable that civil aviation should face such dangers in a Western country without anything being done about it," said one airline official. Interference has come from pirate radio stations and local communications systems, and summer weather conditions worsen the amount of interference.
