--Two rockets fired from Lebanon struck the port city of Haifa. Military officials reported that the rockets were fired by Hizbullah and manufactured by Iran. Hizbullah issued a statement of denial, insisting it was not the terror organization which fired the missiles into Haifa, but IDF and government officials rejected the validity of that statement.
--The United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution Thursday night that condemned Israel for its retaliation against Kassam rocket attacks on Israel from the Gaza region. The vote was 10-1 in favor of the motion, put forth by Qatar, the Council's only Arab member. Britain, Denmark, Peru and Slovakia abstained.
--Waves of Katyusha rockets slammed into Tiberias, resulting in significant damage. The attacks are viewed by government officials as a significant escalation of warfare, striking the city which is situated on the shore of Lake Kinneret.
--Four people who were on board a naval gunboat are feared dead following a Hizbullah missile attack against the vessel, which was stationed off the coast of Lebanon. Commentators add that the C-802 rocket came as a surprise, explaining that the IDF was unaware Hizbullah was armed with the Iranian rockets.
--Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordan’s King Abdullah II released condemnatory statements regarding ongoing Israeli aerial assaults in Lebanon.
