A police officer accused of trampling a young protestor while on horseback was barred on Wednesday from being part of the police presence at demonstrations until the end of his trial. The officer, David Edry, is accused of attacking Yehuda Etzion during a protest in Amona in February of 2006. Edry claims the trampling was accidental.
The Supreme Court issued the decision to bar Edry from demonstrations following a complaint by the Yesha Organization for Human Rights. Justices expressed surprise that the state had not given a similar order much earlier.
