Pakistani troops are continuing their assault on a pro-Taliban mosque, where at least 58 have died in gunfights Tuesday. The victims include eight soldiers and 50 terrorists. Military officials said they rescued 27 women and three children, but added that hundreds of others still are inside the mammoth mosque, which comprises 75 rooms.
Pakistan's president Pervez Musharraf gave the go-ahead for the attack after talks with pro-Taliban leaders broke down. Several of the terrorists are part of the group that is accused of murdering Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
