Historic Arab League Visit Delayed Two Weeks

(IsraelNN.com) Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit announced a short time ago that he and his Jordanian counterpart will represent the Arab League in a meeting in Jerusalem on July 25. The meeting originally was scheduled for this Thursday, exactly one day after the Second Lebanon War broke out, according to the Gregorian calendar, and then was unexplainably called off. Foreign Minister Aboul Gheit did not cite the reason for the delay, but he earlier stated that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert presented personal reasons for not meeting on Thursday.

The announcement of the meeting contradicted a statement by the deputy director of the Arab League, Mohammed Sobeih who said it would not take place because the discussion would serve as a public relations event for Israel.
