The relatively new capitalist kibbutz movement, whose former socialism was a model for the Israeli economy, remains a good example, according to Morgan Stanley investment brokers. "Israel’s own experience shows that fiscal discipline must be a lifestyle, not an occasional hype," it said.

Morgan Stanley noted that the kibbutz movement represented an idealism when it was socialist and that it now shows the ideals of a competitive economy.

Most of the country's kibbutzim have privatized their operations, and some are a kibbutz only in name, with outside directors and private ownership of houses and cars.
