Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer signed an order Monday prohibiting the use of 96 octane benzene gasoline. The new regulation, aimed at improving the environment, is subject to approval of the Knesset Economic Committee.

The change will free fuel storage tanks for gasoline that causes less pollution but will require motorists of older vehicles, which usually require benzene 96 octane, to use an additive for their engines.
