800 nationals of African and eastern European countries who entered Israel illegally from Egypt will be sent back to Egypt immediately, the government decided Sunday evening.
In accordance with an agreement reached by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Egypt will take back several hundred citizens of Chad, Eritrea and Ivory Coast as well as a few dozen citizens of Georgia and other eastern European countries.
No solution has been found as of yet for 200 refugees from Darfur. It is feared that returning them to Egypt could mean that they will be handed over to Sudan, where they might be killed.
