Moshe Katzav is a private citizen once more. The former president’s resignation took effect Sunday morning, after he formally submitted it on Friday.

Katzav suspended himself six months ago in the face of an investigation that is set to end with indictments on sexual assault charges.

The scope and nature of the charges is yet to be finalized, pending a High Court decision on whether to approve or deny a plea bargain worked out between the State Prosecutor’s Office and Katzav’s lawyers.
